Erath County officials announced a tire-recycling collection scheduled for Sept. 19 at the county maintenance office adjacent to the jail and said a separate collection is scheduled this Saturday at the Dublin city yard.
Steve Bill of the maintenance office told the court the collection at the jail will begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until the trailer is full. County commissioners and staff recalled that at a previous event many residents lined up early and the trailer filled quickly. County staff said organizers have in past used inmate labor to assist with the event and suggested county jail staff would coordinate inmate involvement with the maintenance office.
Officials said the Dublin collection operates under the same first-come, first-served approach; organizers expected to complete the Dublin event within a few hours once it opens, depending on turnout.
No formal action was required from the court for these notices; the items were presented as announcements under new business.
