Royal Palm Beach Stars board advances sponsorship talks, schedules tryouts and workshop

Claudine Gooden, president of the Royal Palm Beach Stars board, said she and a board member identified as Miss Curry will draft the sponsorship documents for review and submission in the organization’s normal sponsorship-acceptance process. The board had been negotiating with True Height “to meet in the middle” about priorities, Gooden said.
Board members also reported that a full financial review using QuickBooks was not completed during a prior workshop. Anita Stewart, treasurer, said she will complete the monthly financial report — including a profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet — after the board meets to finish that review. Stewart said there has been “minimal spending,” leaving few transactions to reconcile.
On meeting minutes, board members requested corrections to the draft minutes provided for review. The board agreed to revise the minutes to remove an incorrectly recorded verbal report and to correct timing overlaps in the meeting record; members said the revised minutes will be brought back for a formal motion to accept at the next board meeting.
Program reports indicated the organization’s roster remains largely unchanged, with some new participants who are “not really working out,” according to the board’s report. The board said it will open middle-school tryouts on the coming Friday and the following Friday to give fall participants a chance to play. The board also plans separate high-school tryouts for students who did not make their high school teams and want additional training toward travel programs.
Longer-term items remain on the agenda. The board left a planned spring sports‑recruit program on the table and deferred a request for a marketing budget until the new year. Members also noted a possible website software upgrade and that a pending SKIP grant application remains under review; results were not specified.
The board discussed compensation for a proposed social‑media intern described in the minutes as “$3.50” but did not specify whether that figure refers to an hourly wage, stipend amount or another payment structure. The minutes record the amount but do not give further detail.
