Plan Commission approves Edward Jones signage at 403 Janesville Avenue

The Fort Atkinson Plan Commission on July 8 approved a site plan review for new signage at Edward Jones’ relocated office at 403 Janesville Avenue.
City staff presented the application and recommended approval. Jed Draeger, director of neighborhood and building services, told the commission the proposal replaces the awning vinyl on the storefront facing Janesville Avenue and installs a new dual-post aluminum sign adjacent to the street. Draeger said the awning structure will remain and window/door lettering is “very minor” and does not require a permit.
Draeger said both signs meet the city’s requirements and that the proposal is consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan. Commissioners offered only minor comments about presentation (one member noted a typographical error in the packet) and otherwise described the design as “well designed” and “sharp.”
A motion to approve the site plan review as proposed passed on a voice vote after a motion and second; commissioners signaled assent by saying “aye.” No conditions were added to the approval, and staff will proceed with the permitting process under the approved design.
The commission took the vote during its regular meeting at City Hall and over Zoom; no public opposition or additional public comment about the Edward Jones signage was recorded.
