Okaloosa County Commission OKs Concept Plan for Patriot Park in Crestview

The Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Oct. 7 a conceptual master plan for Patriot Park, a multi-use neighborhood park in the Patriot Ridge area of Crestview.
Jeff Peters, facility and parks director, described the concept as a 1.6-mile trail system linking west and east areas of the park, parking, pavilions, restrooms, playgrounds, a dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs, pickleball courts on the east side and a river overlook with a walkout deck at the park’s southern end. Peters said earlier work replaced several bridges in poor condition and that a neighborhood committee had been heavily involved in developing the plan.
Commissioner comments on the record described the process used to engage neighborhood residents: the county hosted a town hall and formed a citizen committee to create a master plan. The chair noted maps and renderings were available after the meeting. A motion to approve the concept plan passed unanimously.
Why this matters: the park will provide new recreation access and trail connectivity in Crestview and was developed with sustained neighborhood input.
