Oviedo council adopts logo chosen by Public Arts Board for Arts & Entertainment District

The Oviedo City Council on Oct. 20 adopted Resolution 4654-25 approving the Public Arts Board’s top-ranked design for the Oviedo Arts and Entertainment District logo and authorized the city manager to execute an agreement with the selected artist.
City staff said the call for artists — authorized earlier this year by Resolution 4610-25 — drew 66 applications. Dr. Grama, who presented the item for staff, said the Public Arts Board evaluated submissions on creativity and narrative and recommended the four highest-ranked designs to council.
Dr. Grama said staff will negotiate a contract with the selected artist that grants the city the right to use and dispose of the logo design; a template agreement is attached to the resolution. The agenda materials and resolution show a $1,000 stipend for the winning artist; staff said the Public Art Fund has sufficient balance and that a budget amendment is included in the resolution to cover the stipend.
Councilmembers praised the number and quality of entries. After the motion to adopt the resolution, council called the roll and recorded aye votes; the motion carried.
The Public Arts Board and staff will complete the artist agreement and return any required contract documents to the city manager for signature as authorized by the resolution.
