The project secured federal carbon‑reduction funding of roughly $4.2 million; county match obligations total up to 20% and staff identified $250,000 from open‑space funds plus other local matches (Complete the Trails program ~$600,000 and additional match sources) to meet the local match requirements.
Cross said the design contract will allow the county to proceed with environmental review and procurement; commissioners approved the contract and the related capital project ordinance by voice vote.
