Lake Wales Charter Schools announced a restart and expansion of a teacher advisory council that will give educators formal, recurring input into district planning.
Superintendent Julie Conrad and trustee leaders said each campus selected two teacher representatives. The list presented to the board: Lake Wales High School — Donna Giles and Theresa Bair; Bach North — Jessica Farler and Jean Smith; Bach South — Nicole Seeley and Chandra Duncan; Polk Avenue — Beth Hughes and Vivian Santander; Janie Howard — Jamisha Howard and Zanesha Walker; Hillcrest — Mindy Crowley and Haley Turner; Babson Park — Cali Moore and Bill Piercedorf. Conrad said she and the superintendent’s office will also participate and that the council intends to meet monthly with the first meeting scheduled on Monday, Oct. 27 at the charter office.
Trustees said the teacher advisory council will review items required by law — including attendance and enrollment policies — and serve as a structured channel for teacher input on system goals. Trustees also noted the council had broad enthusiasm from staff across campuses.
Ending: The board said the council’s work will inform the system strategic plan under development; trustees asked staff to bring attendance and enrollment policy drafts to the next meeting for review.
