Coral Gables resident praises city emergency responders after son’s cardiac arrest

"My 14 year old son, went into cardiac arrest, at home," the resident said. She recounted that emergency personnel performed CPR, transported him to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and that he returned home about "10 and a half weeks after his incident." She said firefighters and police later came to the family home to welcome him back.
"My son is here today thanks to the help and the service of the city of Coral Gables. Without a doubt, the fire rescue and the police made a huge part on Thomas' recovery," the resident said.
The remarks were delivered as personal testimony during public comment; no council action or policy change was announced in response. The speaker framed her remarks as gratitude for emergency medical care and other city services she said supported her family through the incident.
The comment highlighted resident trust in local first responders and described a multiweek hospitalization and community follow-up; no additional operational details, budgets, or policy proposals were presented during the remarks.
