"Any service covered by Medicaid can be provided by any legislatively authorized provider who completes the Medicaid provider agreement," Redmond said. He described the RS as affirming rules the legislature had previously passed and said the Department of Health & Welfare earlier in the week had conducted an audit that did not recognize the legislature’s conferred authority in some cases.
Representative Kaler moved to introduce the RS; Chairman VanderWaata called the voice vote and said it passed. Representative Wheeler asked for examples to be presented at a full hearing; Redmond said he would provide examples in that hearing and referenced expanded scopes of practice in North Idaho that the legislature had enacted to improve access to care.
The committee introduced RS32089 for a future hearing; no final statutory language, fiscal analysis or formal amendments were adopted during the introduction.
