Representative Doug Pickett, who represents District 27, introduced RS 32,189 to the House Health & Welfare Committee, saying the measure would change how members of district health boards are selected.
"You have before you RS 32,189. The intent of this legislation is to ensure that members of district health boards are comprised of elected officials rather than employees," Pickett said. He added the bill would not remove a physician seat currently reserved on those boards and said it would require a two-thirds vote of the county commissioners to remove a member and change board terms from five years to two.
The measure was moved for introduction by Representative Rasier and, after no discussion, was introduced by voice vote. The chair announced, "RS 3,218 is introduced."
