Rules committee members assigned two rules each; science policy fellow introduced as resource

Chairwoman (name not specified) said the committee will reconvene next Tuesday to begin the rules process. “We are going to meet again on Tuesday and start the rules process,” she said, and clarified that agency presentations will be scheduled before any votes. As Zito explained, “we won't vote on them that day so that we can consider what the agencies tell us,” adding that the committee will either vote at the next meeting or on a later consolidated schedule.
The committee introduced Dr. Ellen Upton, who identified herself during the meeting as a science and technology policy fellow. “My name is Ellen Upton. I recently got my PhD in immunology from the University of Iowa, and I'm here for a year long, science and technology policy fellowship,” she said. Upton said she will act as an LSO analyst/researcher and can help committee members with research and data presentation.
No formal motions or votes were recorded during the session. The committee took a silent roll at the start and adjourned after setting the review process and schedule.
Looking ahead, members were told to review their assigned rules, consult with the assigned reviewer if they have questions, and be prepared for agency presentations when the committee next meets.
