Panel hears rule edits giving Vocational Rehabilitation greater flexibility to set service priorities

Matthew Scribe said stakeholders asked that rules not require the individualized plan for employment in every case; removing or rephrasing that requirement would allow the division to use other approved processes. "By crossing that off, we're allowing for them to use that or other approved processes by, voc rehab," Scribe said.
The draft also removes a prescriptive line tied to a voc‑rehab strategic plan and federal guidance so the division can respond to shifting federal requirements and local budget constraints. Presenters said the division will still prioritize individuals in immediate jeopardy of losing jobs but needs flexibility in implementation. The committee did not vote on the draft rules; presentation was informational.
