The Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee on Feb. 12 approved, by unanimous consent, a technical correction to the program maintenance bill that sets the health insurance distribution amount for public schools at $21,902 per support unit.
Jared Tatro, deputy division manager for the Legislative Services Office budget and policy analysis division, told the committee the statute and bill language must show a dollar amount rather than the prior per‑FTE multiplier. He said the correct calculation produces $21,902 per support unit after rounding from $21,901.50 and that the explicit dollar amount is required "so that the Department of Education knows how much to distribute per support unit."
A committee member requested unanimous consent to accept the calculated amount and include the figure in the public‑schools program maintenance bill. "You've heard the unanimous consent request. Is there an objection? Hearing none, it is so ordered," the chair said.
No formal roll‑call vote was taken; the committee adopted the technical correction by unanimous consent. The change simply documents the rounded dollar amount in bill language so the Department of Education can implement the funding distribution.
