Auburn council approves consent items including battery backup contracts, park turf installs and tax abatement for Core Scientific

Mayor Ron Anders said the Auburn City Council approved a range of consent-agenda items at its March 4 meeting, including business licensing, vendor contracts, equipment purchases and a tax abatement amendment and joint agreement tied to a private capital investment.

The council approved an alcohol beverage license for a new business, Angus Steakhouse, located at 1212 Gatewood Drive. The mayor said the council also approved a contract with the DC Group to replace battery supply systems at City Hall, the Public Safety Building and the Bailey Alexander Water and Sewer Complex. Anders described those systems as backup power systems for city facilities.

Council approved a three-year renewal of DebtBook debt management and lease accounting software for the finance department and an annual renewal of maintenance and support for the Polaris Integrated Library System used by Auburn Public Library. The council also approved the purchase of one Ford F-550 for the public works department; the mayor said this was a budgeted item.

Under resolutions, Anders said the council approved a contract with Gonzales Strength and Associates to install turf: infields at the Auburn Softball Complex and turf on Field 11 at the Wire Road Soccer Complex.

The council also approved a tax-abatement amendment and a joint agreement for Core Scientific, which the mayor said will make a $135,000,000 capital investment in the community, create 20 employees and establish operations in the existing Albix facility.
