City utility staff asks residents to raise morning thermostats to ease grid strain

A staff member said providers HP and TPA expect increased morning demand and requested that users set thermostats between 65 and 68 degrees between about 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. to ease strain on the grid. The staff member framed the request as voluntary and temporary while weather conditions persist.
Council members did not vote on the request; it was presented as public guidance from the utilities and city staff. The council otherwise continued with its agenda.
