Council adopts ordinance authorizing $1.135 million contract for Public Works fuel station

The Canby City Council adopted Ordinance 16-39 on second reading Feb. 5, authorizing the city administrator to execute a contract with Meng Hanley Construction Inc. for $1,135,210 to build a fuel card lock station at the Public Works facility.
Public Works staff reported the project was budgeted at $1,670,000 and the low bid came in at $1,135,210. Jerry (Public Works staff) told the council, “We had a budget of $1,670,000 and it came in low bid was 1,135,000.” Councilors welcomed the lower-than-budget bid as a positive outcome for the capital program.
Council President Hensley moved the ordinance on second reading; Councilor Waterman seconded. The ordinance passed on a roll-call vote, recorded as a 5-0 approval.
The contract amount will allow the city to proceed with construction subject to the terms in the adopted ordinance. Staff indicated the project and contract award were routine following the city’s bidding process and second-reading requirements.
Action: council approved Ordinance 16-39 (second reading) and authorized the city administrator to sign the construction contract.
