ODOT clears last Canby bus stops; city public works to install remaining shelters this spring

Canby Area Transit staff told the advisory committee on Jan. 23 that Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has approved the designs for the four remaining bus stops along 99E, clearing the way for public works to install the final shelters.
The approved locations are two stops at Territorial and two at Redwood. Public works has provided an installation estimate staff described as far below outside contractors’ costs; the department will construct sidewalks, pads and other site work to ODOT specifications.
Details - Staff said installation requires sidewalk work, concrete pads and about 40 feet of pipe at one location; some wiring and signal loop protections must also be accommodated. - The project totals 10 structures in Canby’s 99E corridor: nine shelters and one light/bench where right-of-way acquisition prevented a full shelter. - Shelters delivered earlier have been stored and staged by public works and are already in active use at other stops, staff said.
Timing and next steps Staff expects work to proceed when weather allows and when public works schedules permit. Committee members were told installations could begin as soon as spring and that staff will coordinate with public works on right-of-way needs near a Fred Meyer store.
