Committee advances bill updating interstate EMS licensure and reciprocity

Representative Satter told the committee House Bill 207 is a procedural bill to update statutes so paramedic licensure, emergency medical treatment and training are accepted across state lines under an interstate compact. The sponsor said the change facilitates cross-border response and reciprocal recognition of nationally recognized licenses.
“It's about having paramedic and emergency medical treatments and training accepted across state lines,” Representative Satter said. “We have about 145 people using their out of state licenses that are nationally recognized here in our state.”
The bill’s sponsor said compact provisions help ensure responders from neighboring states can operate in Idaho when incidents cross borders and that Idaho responders can operate elsewhere. No members of the public signed up to testify for or against the bill.
Representative Nicholson moved to send House Bill 207 to the floor with a due-pass recommendation; the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
