Legislative Services budget analyst Kevin Campbell told the committee the language before members makes the reductions one‑time rather than ongoing. Committee members and staff said the change corrects an oversight in the drafting of yesterday’s action.
Senator Warding said she supports the correction but voiced concern about making cuts to the universities at all, noting increases in enrollment and graduation rates. Representative Mitchell thanked staff for locating and correcting the drafting error.
Representative Price requested unanimous consent to accept the language shown on the screen. With no objections, the committee ordered the change by unanimous consent.
