House panel introduces bill to align Medicaid value-based contracts with state fiscal year

Sponsors told the committee the measure also includes a mechanism to bridge a timing gap: existing contracts could be extended up to six months so their end dates align with the new July 1 cycle. Committee members asked whether that extension would create fiscal changes; the presenter said the bill stipulates the ability to extend contracts until the January date to align terms.
Committee members moved to introduce RS 31996 and the motion passed on a voice vote. No final policy change occurred at the hearing; introduction sends the draft to the standard legislative process for further committee consideration.
