Centre County to support Housing and Land Trust memorandum; Habitat to break ground on county’s first 3D-printed house

The Centre County Board of Commissioners voted to add a memorandum of agreement with the Centre County Housing and Land Trust (CCHLT) to next week’s consent agenda after staff described the scope of administrative support and upcoming projects.
Planning staff said the MOA is an annual agreement for the housing and land trust to receive up to five hours per week of general and administrative support from the county’s community planning and development office. The agreement term given in the meeting was Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2026, and staff named Betsy Bart (housing coordinator) as the county staff liaison to the land trust.
Missy Schoon of the Centre County Housing and Land Trust thanked the county and municipalities for support and highlighted recent partnerships, including three Habitat for Humanity partner homes completed for single‑parent households. Schoon said the land trust will hold a groundbreaking tomorrow in Harris Township in Bullsburg for a 3D‑printed concrete house that she described as “the first 3D‑printed house in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” and noted the printer was scheduled to arrive the following week.
Commissioners moved and seconded adding the MOA to the consent agenda; the motion carried. The county said the MOA would be placed on next week’s consent agenda for formal approval.
Why it matters: the MOA provides administrative support that CCHLT said is necessary for continuing municipal partnerships and for delivering affordable housing projects. The forthcoming 3D‑printed house is presented as a pilot/technology demonstration that the land trust and Habitat expect to use for affordable ownership in a single‑parent household.
What’s next: the county will include the MOA on the next consent agenda. CCHLT and Habitat for Humanity will hold a ground‑breaking ceremony in Harris Township at noon tomorrow; a ribbon cutting is expected at a later date.
