Whitworth said he relies on strong teams beneath him and expects permanent hires for those roles within months. "There are great people that just need a little bit of support and guidance," he told the committee, adding that he intends to break down silos and encourage shared practices across organizations under the board.
Whitworth described his time in the controller's office as preparation for managing a statewide education organization and cited transparency as a guiding principle. The committee did not take a final vote at the hearing; members said they expect to act at a later meeting.
