The Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee on Feb. 12 approved, by unanimous consent, a technical correction to the program maintenance bill setting the public schools health-insurance distribution at $21,902 per support unit.
Jared Tatro, deputy division manager for Legislative Services, told the committee the bill language must include the dollar amount so the Department of Education can calculate distributions. “The motion and the correction before you will say to provide $21,902 in that maintenance bill for distributions,” Tatro said. He explained the figure reflects the calculated per-support-unit allocation (the 1.55 staff allowance) and noted the underlying computation rounded to the next dollar.
Committee leadership put the correction forward as a unanimous-consent request. The committee chair asked whether there was any objection; none was raised and the correction was ordered included in the program maintenance bill.
The action is technical: no policy change or appropriation increase was presented during the exchange. The committee did not take separate roll-call votes on the correction because it was adopted without objection under unanimous-consent procedure.
The committee proceeded to its scheduled agency budget reviews after accepting the correction.
