Idaho Education Association members recognized at Senate Education Committee; IEA president calls for partnership

Lane McAnally, president of the Idaho Education Association, addressed the Senate Education Committee and recognized "hundreds of educators" in Boise for IEA's Lobby Day. McAnally described IEA's membership and charitable activities and urged continued partnership between educators and legislators.
McAnally told the committee the IEA represents teachers, education support professionals, administrators and other public‑school workers across Idaho and highlighted the IEA Children's Fund, which the association uses to provide school supplies, vision and dental care, clothing and other assistance for students and families. "Since our founding in 1892, the IEA has been supporting educators' mission of providing the best education possible to Idaho students," McAnally said.
McAnally emphasized the association's commitment to integrity and local partnership and asked lawmakers and educators to work together on improving classroom conditions, career technical programs and special education services. He concluded by asking the committee to recognize the visiting educators and thanked the chairman for the opportunity to be heard.
No formal committee action was taken during the recognition portion of the meeting.
