Ziderfeld added, "This is passed in the House and Medicaid costs have more than tripled. This bill should be heard by the committee. It is too important to be left in a drawer."
Committee procedure stalled the item. Senator Shippey asked, "Is this I guess does the Committee have authority to do this? I wasn't sure about that." Senator Wintrow requested a short recess to consult the committee rules, saying, "Could we just go at ease for a moment just so I could consult the rules as far as what the proper motion is and in what order? I just want to make sure I got that clear." A roll-call vote was also requested during the exchange.
Before the committee resolved the procedural questions or recorded a vote, the meeting was put at ease. When Chair Ben Ordon arrived later, she declared the meeting adjourned for the day and said a new agenda would be released for the following week.
