During committee updates the council heard two operational briefings: the local recycling committee expects a new glass crusher delivery by March 25, and the airport board reported progress on multiple capital projects.
Powell Valley Recycling (reported during the committee updates) said the new glass crusher will be delivered by March 25; a few specialty collection bins remain to be ordered and staff hope to complete electrical and installation work shortly thereafter. The recycling committee said it will coordinate public notice and press outreach once installation timing is finalized.
The airport board update said the apron rehabilitation design with consultant HDR is at about 60% and that staff hope to advertise bids in April with construction possibly occurring before the Wings and Wheels event in August. The board reported installation of an antenna-funded piece of equipment that provides transmitting-aircraft tracking; board members mentioned a possible reception for airport users and a planned survey of airport users about future development. The airport update also stated there is a possible $4,000,000 resurfacing of one runway planned for next fiscal year, with potential lighting upgrades.
