Committee introduces measure to correct two county boundary description errors

Summary
Rep. Lori McCann told the House State Affairs Committee that RS 32541 makes two scrivener corrections to previously enacted boundary descriptions affecting Latah and Shoshone counties; the committee voted to introduce the resolution and send it to second reading.
The House State Affairs Committee introduced RS 32541 on a unanimous voice vote after Representative Lori McCann, who represents District 6, said the bill makes two small scrivener corrections to language added during a larger boundary-change bill.
"So that is all this bill does is cleans up 2 small scrivener errors that the assessors and surveyors found while they were fixing all the descriptions," McCann told the committee. She said one correction (page 2 of the draft) adjusts wording to show Latah County’s location correctly; another correction (page 7) removes extra words in a Shoshone County description that had mistakenly referenced Clearwater County.
McCann said the errors were discovered by county assessors and surveyors as they implemented the boundary changes approved last year and that the corrections are technical in nature. Committee members asked whether there was any opposition; McCann said there was not, noting "all county assessors, they all signed on agreements."
Representative Green moved to introduce RS 32,541 and send it to the second-reading calendar. The chair called for voice votes; the motion carried.
The measure makes no policy changes, according to McCann’s presentation, and is limited to correcting descriptive language in parcel and boundary descriptions.
The committee record shows the resolution was introduced and referred to the second-reading calendar for further consideration.
