Mount Vernon police say two arrested in fatal shooting of 18-year-old Allen Mora Gomez

A Mount Vernon Police Department spokesperson said investigators have arrested two people they identify as suspects in the shooting that killed 18-year-old Allen Mora Gomez on East College Way.
The department said in a public update that the shooting occurred in the 2200 block of East College Way and that the department first provided information about the investigation on March 17. The spokesperson said investigators identified a suspect vehicle, which was located in Everett by the Everett Police Department’s violent crimes unit and seized as evidence.
"Yesterday, both of those individuals, a 21 year old male and a 17 year old male were arrested in Oak Harbor during a joint operation by the North Cascades regional SWAT team, Mount Vernon police tactical operations team, and a Skagit County crisis negotiations team," the Mount Vernon Police Department spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the 17-year-old was booked into Skagit County juvenile detention and the 21-year-old was booked into the Skagit County Jail on charges of second-degree murder.
The spokesperson said arrests do not end the investigation and urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact 24-hour dispatch at (360) 428-3211 or the Mount Vernon Police Department during business hours at (360) 336-6271.
The department did not provide additional details about the alleged motive, the names of the arrested individuals beyond their ages, or the date of the shooting in the statement. Investigators said they are continuing to follow leads and process physical and forensic evidence.
