Idaho House committee sends Taiwan-recognition resolution to the floor

Representative Brit Raybould, R.-District 34, told the committee he and other Idaho delegates visited Taiwan last fall and described the island’s economic and cultural ties with Idaho. "It’s a testament to what is capable in a free society," Raybould said, and asked the committee to forward the resolution to the floor.
The motion to send HCR6 with a due-pass recommendation was made by Representative Akiles and carried without discussion. No public testimony was offered before the committee acted.
The resolution is a nonbinding recognition of the state’s relationship with Taiwan and does not create a statutory obligation or new program.
