Jared Tatro, Deputy Division Manager for Legislative Services, told the committee the bill text needed to show a dollar amount rather than a per‑full‑time‑position figure so the Department of Education knows how much to distribute: "the language, that dollar amount is required to be in the bill so that the Department of Education knows how much to distribute per support unit." He explained the figure represented a rounded amount from the calculations the committee had already seen.
After Mr. Tatro’s explanation, a committee co‑chair asked for unanimous consent to include the calculated $21,902 amount in the program maintenance bill. With no objections the chair ordered the change adopted by unanimous consent.
The action is a technical correction only; committee members did not use the moment to reopen program or policy debates about school funding. Committee staff said the intent was purely to record the calculated amount in statute language so the Department of Education can execute distribution.
