The House Business Committee on Feb. 17 voted to send House Bill 122 to the full House with a do-pass recommendation. The bill, sponsored by Representative Jeff Ehlers, would remove the statutory licensure requirement for "glamour photography."
Ehlers told the committee the state currently licenses two glamour photographers and that there have been no complaints to the Department of Professional Licensing in the last five years. "There are currently 2 licensed glamour photographers in Idaho," he said, adding that only two states at present license that category.
Representative Birch said he supported HB 122 while distinguishing it from HB 121 (makeup artists), expressing concern earlier about cosmetic procedures near the eye. Birch said he did not see the same public-health risk in glamour photography. Representative Barbieri had moved the committee motion to advance the bill.
No members of the public registered to testify in the hearing record. The committee approved the do-pass motion by voice vote; the hearing transcript records the motion "carries" but does not include a roll-call tally.
Committee action: HB 122 advanced to the House floor with a do-pass recommendation by voice vote.
