Gov. nominee Steve Landon introduces himself to Senate Commerce Committee; vote to follow

Steve Landon, nominated for reappointment to the Idaho State Insurance Fund board, appeared before the Senate Commerce Committee to introduce himself and to describe his experience in labor and on the board.
Landon said he was first appointed to the board around 2009–2010 and credited board leadership and staff with modernizing the fund’s operations. "We are into the digital age now," Landon said, describing online claim filing and faster claim processing. He told the committee the fund has stabilized and is competing to offer good rates and service for public employers.
Landon said his background includes 43 years with the J.R. Simplot Company and long experience in union leadership, and he said those experiences taught him to listen and negotiate. Committee members thanked Landon for his service and said they would take up the confirmation vote at the committee’s next meeting on Thursday.
