At its Jan. 29, 2025 meeting the Corvallis Planning Commission re-elected Commissioner Laird as chair and appointed Commissioner Adams as vice chair, approved minutes from the Jan. 15 meeting and reviewed its near-term public meeting schedule.
Nominations and votes: Commissioner Tedapalli nominated Commissioner Laird for chair; Commissioner Clark seconded the nomination. The commission approved the motion by voice vote; the chair said the position is not a fixed term and can be changed by a majority vote of the commission at any time.
Vice chair: A motion was made to nominate Commissioner Adams as vice chair; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote. The commission was reminded that the chair runs meetings and that the chair or vice chair normally casts only a tie-breaking vote when presiding.
Minutes: Commissioner Adams moved to approve the minutes of Jan. 15, 2025; Commissioner Clark seconded. The commission approved the minutes by voice vote.
Schedule and upcoming hearings: Staff (Planning) told the commission the Feb. 5 meeting will include a legislative public hearing on proposed amendments to Land Development Code Article 3, focusing on residential development standards and cleanup from the recent code audit, and a work session on the draft climate-friendly area designation (CFAD) map and code amendments. Staff said the Feb. 19 meeting will include a work session to finalize proposed sign code amendments and that subsequent meetings will address Article 4 topics related to natural-features provisions (riparian corridors, wetlands, hillsides, landslide hazards and floodplain).
Ending: Commissioners were asked to consider whether they prefer continuing virtual meetings or returning to in-person sessions in the weeks ahead; staff said the commission typically reviews and updates its unresolved planning issues list in the May and fall timeframes as part of annual work-planning.
