McMinnville — The McMinnville School District Board of Directors approved four policy updates on April 14 to bring district policies into alignment with federal and state requirements.
The board voted to adopt the following updates: AC (Nondiscrimination and Civil Rights) to designate a civil rights coordinator in compliance with state requirements; GBNJBA (Harassment) and related Title IX changes to revert to the 2020 regulatory framework for harassment procedures; GCBDF/GDBDF (Paid Family and Medical Leave) to align district practice with the Oregon Paid Leave program while continuing to use an approved alternate administrator; and JFE (Pregnant and Parenting Students) to remove a 2022-era provision that was tied to the later Title IX rule changes.
Board members discussed clarifying language for pregnant and parenting students to avoid implying automatic special-education eligibility; staff confirmed the policy refers to individualized services only when educational needs cannot be met in regular programs. The board approved the four policies by voice vote; the motion carried.
