The committee cited testing scheduling, summer-school staffing and the timing of state testing windows and graduation as reasons to start after Labor Day for the 2025–26 year.
The committee also recommended that the district publish three years of calendars so families and staff can plan ahead; the board adopted the 2025–26 calendar and approved the accompanying 2026–27 and 2027–28 templates that maintain consistent patterns while shifting start dates based on calendar-year holidays.
Board members asked for the finalized calendars to be posted to the district website; staff said they would publish the calendars within a couple of days and add details such as half days and graduation dates once finalized with the high school.
The motion to adopt the 2025–2028 calendars passed 7–0.
