County staff told commissioners the truck’s cargo box “is red tagged and out of service just because of safety issues,” and that the current box—the second placed on the chassis—has deteriorated to the point it can no longer be safely repaired. The Lake Region Solid Waste Authority agreed to provide $5,000 toward the replacement; the county will pay the full amount up front and be reimbursed.
Commissioners voted to accept the bid from PA Paul Leasing for the cargo box and liftgate. The procurement was described as necessary to return the vehicle to service and maintain safety standards for county fleet operations.
No amendments to the bid were recorded and the vote to approve was unanimous among commissioners present.
