She said the commission’s application and renewal processes have been streamlined since her earlier service and that a performance framework used in renewals now includes financial, operational and academic components.
Quinn thanked lawmakers for a recent legislative allocation of more than $300,000 to support charter schools, saying the funding is the first time the commission has had dedicated funding for academic support. She said the commission is using that support to develop assistance and to work on accountability for alternative schools; Quinn said the commission is soliciting national expertise and using partners such as Bloom and national charter organizations to refine approaches.
Quinn asked for consideration for reappointment and stood for committee questions. The committee did not vote on the reappointment during the hearing.
