Division of Financial Management seeks one financial analyst to bolster reporting and oversight

The Division of Financial Management (DFM) asked the Joint Finance-Preparation Committee for one additional financial management analyst (senior) position to strengthen financial reporting and oversight across state agencies.
Christopher LaHosa of the Legislative Services Office summarized the request and Laurie Wolf, DFM administrator, introduced DFM staff. The requested position is a nonclassified senior analyst with a base salary cited in the budget submission; the agency requested about $124,400 in total ongoing cost and $5,800 one-time for equipment and onboarding, funded from DFM’s indirect cost recovery fund.
Why it matters: DFM supports the governor’s role as the state’s chief budget officer and assists agencies on budget development, monitoring and appropriation changes. The administrator told the committee the office experienced leadership turnover in the recent period but is currently fully staffed and expects the new position to improve reporting and transparency, particularly as the state adapts to the LUMA financial management system.
Administrator Laurie Wolf said the office has been through turnover but is now filled and argued the additional position will produce better reporting, oversight and visibility into executive agency budgets. “I assure you that, you will see better results out of our office because of this and continued strong partnership with LSO and this committee on making sure you have the information you need when you need it,” Wolf said.
The request also includes approximately $21,100 for IT replacement items recommended by ITS (four network switches). DFM emphasized the position is funded through its dedicated indirect cost recovery fund and would be used to bolster fiscal policy work across executive agencies.
Where it stands: The committee heard the request and had no substantive objections in the hearing. DFM said it would provide follow-up materials if the committee requested additional detail.
