Emerald Hill Elementary showcases staff morale initiatives, new clubs and community partnerships

Principal Dr. Gellert presented highlights from Emerald Hill Elementary, describing a year-long theme, new clubs and staff morale initiatives.

Presentation highlights: The school’s theme this year was "Game On — achieving greatness together," and the principal described classroom and family events tied to that theme. New student clubs include an interior design club (students designed and painted a mural after presenting plans), a "Goodness Gnome" group focused on kindness and a life-skills club that has taught wrapping and table-setting. Staff-appreciation activities included an off‑site games day, donated meals at the start of the year, holiday gatherings, "donut Fridays," and a staff-wrapping day that assembled gifts for employees.

Community partnerships: The principal singled out partnerships with local businesses and with Culpeper County High School that support field trips, tailgates and donations for family events. She described a trunk-or-treat that handed out Bananagrams tiles to families and noted that community businesses funded meals for staff and other event donations.

Board reaction: Board members praised the presentation and described Emerald Hill as having a positive, family-oriented environment. Several board members thanked staff for building morale that benefits students.
