BOISE — The Idaho Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee approved routine committee business and recommended confirmation of two gubernatorial appointments during the same meeting that advanced House Bill 37.
The committee voted to print RS 32,423, a resolution approving the committee’s 2025 administrative rules, following a brief presentation by Senator Shippey. Senators also approved printing RS 32,435, a minor change to last year’s protective-placement language to add the words “imminent danger” in three places, on a motion from Senator Foreman with a second from Senator Shippey.
The committee approved minutes for its Jan. 29, 2025 and Feb. 3, 2025 meetings on voice votes. The committee also recommended confirmation of two gubernatorial reappointments: Matthew Thomas to the Offender Management Board and Mike Matthews to the Commission of Pardons and Parole. Both appointments were moved forward with recommendations for confirmation by voice votes; motions were made by committee senators and carried without recorded opposition in the transcript.
These items were taken up as routine business; the committee chair said RS 32,371 would be held for correction and likely returned as an amended resolution at a later date.
