The committee approved multiple allied health rule dockets presented by Oren Duffin, program director for the Health Professions Bureau. The packages covered athletic trainers (docket 24-3305-2401), respiratory therapists and polysomnographers (docket 24-3306-2401), dietitians (docket 24-3307-2401), and naturopathic medical doctors (docket 24-3304-2401).
Common changes across the dockets included reorganizing chapters to a consistent format (legal authority; scope; licensure; practice standards; fees), removing duplicate language, simplifying definitions and striking inactive license renewal fees that staff said were incongruent with Idaho Code 67-26-14(9). For respiratory therapy, the committee was told continuing education rules were broadened to allow CE courses considered germane to the profession rather than only board‑approved CE.
Votes: Each docket was moved and approved on voice votes during the meeting. Sponsors who moved the motions included Senator Van Orden (athletic trainers, respiratory therapy, naturopathic) and Senator Blaylock (dietitians). The committee chair recorded the approvals and invited the presenter to proceed to subsequent dockets.
Follow-up: Senator Van Orden noted that a presentation on polysomnographers (sleep testing specialists) is expected at a future meeting to clarify scope and permitting.
