Strongsville City Council on May 19 voted on several ordinances and confirmations. Major items adopted and other key actions are summarized below.
Adopted items - Ordinance 2025-058: Master cooperation agreement with Cuyahoga County for pavement preventative maintenance on Sprague Road (Webster Road to West 130th Street). Motion to suspend and adopt passed unanimously. (Vote: unanimous) - Ordinance 2025-059: Adoption of the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District plan update. Motion to suspend and adopt passed unanimously. (Vote: unanimous) - Ordinance 2025-060: Authorize sale at public auction of two obsolete police vehicles (2018 Ford Explorer and 2019 Charger). Motion to suspend and adopt passed unanimously. (Vote: unanimous) - Ordinance 2025-061: Ratify filing and acceptance of federal fiscal year 2025 traffic safety grant through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (just over $67,000 for traffic and OVI enforcement). Motion to suspend and adopt passed unanimously. - Resolution 2025-065: Declared July and August 2025 council recess months (special meetings to be called as needed). Motion to suspend and adopt passed unanimously. - Conditional objections were filed against two liquor-permit applications (recorded as conditional objections based on building/health/safety compliance); council recorded the conditional objections and directed the clerk to withdraw the objection if compliance is later confirmed.
Items placed on first reading or retained in committee - Ordinance 2025-062 and Ordinance 2025-063 (collective bargaining agreements with the Fraternal Order of Police, sergeants/lieutenants and patrol officers through Dec. 31, 2027) were placed on first reading and retained in committee. These have not yet been ratified by the unions. - Ordinance 2025-064 (exclusive sales listing agreement for approximately 87.5 acres on the Fultz Extension Parkway) was placed on first reading and retained in committee after several council members requested additional review time. - Ordinance 2025-053 (Rezoning of 13570 Fallingwater Road) was placed on second reading and a public hearing was set for July 14.
Appointments and confirmations - Gordon Glissman appointed to a four-year term on the Architectural Review Board, effective May 19, 2025 (confirmed by roll call). - Dale Cerny reappointed to a four-year term on the Architectural Review Board, effective June 1, 2025 (confirmed by roll call). - Michael Kalanich Jr. reappointed to a four-year term on the Planning Commission, effective Sept. 1, 2025 (confirmed by roll call).
