Town Council approves consent agenda, reappoints and appoints advisory-board members

At its Jan. 14, 2025 regular meeting the Town Council approved a consent agenda that included an amendment to section 7.4 of the town Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook and appointments to two advisory bodies.

The action came by voice vote after the town manager presented the consent agenda. The public forum produced no speakers. Council members then approved three board appointments moved by Council member Mr. Al.

The consent agenda, presented by the town manager, included “an amendment to section 7.4, optional work period for law enforcement personnel of the Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook,” an amendment to the Architectural Review Board bylaws, a council designation of a zoning administrator, the treasurer’s reports and minutes of prior meetings. The town manager said, “So moved.” The motion was approved by voice vote; the transcript does not record a numeric tally.

Council member Mr. Al moved three separate actions: to reappoint John E. Back to the Culpepper Economic Development Advisory Committee to a new three-year term beginning immediately and expiring Dec. 31, 2027; to reappoint Corine Compton to the Parks and Recreation Commission to a new four-year term beginning immediately and expiring Dec. 2028; and to appoint John Barrett to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a four-year term beginning immediately and expiring Dec. 2028. After each motion the council approved the appointment by voice vote; the transcript does not record individual yes/no votes or a numeric tally.

The council briefly acknowledged receiving recorded reports and had no questions. During communications, staff announced a FY25 midyear budget review and retreat scheduled for “Thursday, January at 05:00 PM at the EDC Building;” the meeting record did not specify the calendar date in January.

The meeting concluded without public comment on the items and the council adjourned.
