The district’s operations staff summarized maintenance, weather response and transportation items at the Jan. 13 meeting.
Staff described recent facilities work including a sprinkler-pipe repair, replacement of a broken toilet at Eastern View High School and warranty roofing repairs at a middle school. The custodial and maintenance teams led snow- and ice-clearing operations during a recent winter storm, and staff noted the extra effort required to clear buses and parking areas.
Operations staff reported quarterly solar-panel inspection results and said the CTEK solar installation produced what the presenter characterized in the meeting as “a little more than 400 megawatts” over the last year and that the figure was roughly 60% of the annual power consumption of a hypothetical 50,000-person city. The operations presenter supplied those numbers as part of a lay description of the system’s output; the meeting record did not include a technical unit clarification beyond the wording used in the presentation.
Transportation staff reported monthly stop-arm camera violation counts and said violations remain concentrated at recurring locations. The district’s stopfinder bus-notification service grew to 1,355 subscribers, the presenter said, and board members praised staff for their snow response and facilities work. Staff also noted work on Gaggle implementation, a new internet-service RFP and security protocol reviews.
Board members asked whether revenue or savings could be recovered from the solar installation; staff said the district receives some revenue but that it will not cover large budget gaps, and mentioned plans to install electric-bus charging stations in the future to reduce fuel costs.
