Committee introduces RS to merge long-term care administrator boards

The House Health and Welfare Committee on Monday introduced RS 31,812, a request to merge two existing boards that currently oversee administrators of nursing homes and residential care facilities into a single Board of Long Term Care. Representative Dore Healy, who presented the RS, said the change would consolidate functions and that the committee would receive more details if the measure is printed for bill hearing.
Healy told members, "This comes with a combination of boards into 1 board of long term care. We'll go into more detail when we do the print." There was no substantive debate during the introduction and no fiscal note or stakeholder concerns were presented on the floor. Representative Rubell moved to introduce RS 31,812 and members answered "aye" when the chair called for the vote; the motion carried and the RS was introduced.
If printed and scheduled for hearing, the committee will review statutory text and may hear from long-term care stakeholders, administrators and state licensing staff about structural, budgetary or implementation implications of a merged board.
