Board of Dentistry temporary fee rule approved by committee; board reduces fees 25%

The Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee approved Temporary Rule Docket 24-3101-2501, which reduces certain Idaho State Board of Dentistry fees by 25%.
Katie Stewart, Bureau Chief for the Administration Bureau of the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses, said the board added "not more than" language to the fee table to allow future reductions without a new rule and that the board voted to reduce fees by 25%, exceeding the 20% reduction outlined in the division’s previously approved cash-balance plan. "This Board, at the end of fiscal year 24 had 294% of its five-year rolling average of expenditures, which equals about $1,200,000," Stewart told the committee.
Representative Healy moved adoption of the temporary rule; the committee approved the docket by voice vote. Stewart said the division uses the five-year rolling average to assess cash balances and that the dentistry board’s balance placed it well above the statutory target range, enabling the board to authorize a fee decrease. The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript.
