The Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee on Jan. 17 approved a correction restoring $2,000,000 from the general fund to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) general fund appropriation.
Janet Jessup, budget and policy analyst, told the committee that monies had been taken out of DEQ's general fund appropriation when they should have been recorded as a transfer into the agency's general fund. "This action would correct that. It would make the agency whole and provide that those monies don't have to be compensated elsewhere in DEQ's budget," Jessup said.
Senator Woodward moved the appropriation and transfer of $2,000,000 from the general fund to the DEQ general fund; Representative Manwaring seconded. Ms. Figueroa called the roll; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call with 20 ayes, 0 nays.
The committee recorded the action as a do-pass recommendation. Committee members did not request additional debate after the staff explanation.
