Idaho FFA officers brief Senate committee on youth agricultural education, supervised experience projects and scholarships

State officers of Idaho FFA told the Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee on Thursday that agricultural education programs in Idaho provide classroom training, hands‑on supervised agricultural experience (SAE) and competitive career‑development opportunities for students across the state.
Ashlyn King, Idaho FFA state secretary, said the organization represents more than 6,000 student members statewide and thanked committee members for the opportunity to present.
Will Brackett, Idaho FFA state president, described the organization’s three‑circle model: classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experience projects and career‑development contests that allow students to apply skills and network with peers. “The purpose of this model is to help develop the next generation of agriculturalists and leaders…and make sure that they’re the most well rounded individuals as possible,” Brackett said.

Committee members and senators praised the students’ presentation. Senator Zito recalled her FFA experience and thanked officers for the leadership skills the program develops, and Senator Leahy said he regularly attends FFA events and appreciates the mentoring younger members receive.
