County staff provided several operational updates at the Feb. 18 meeting.
Tax sale and valuation notices: Staff said the tentative date for the county tax sale is Thursday, April 17. Valuation notices will be mailed Feb. 28 and dated March 1; taxpayers have 30 days from the notice date to begin the appeal process, staff said. As of the meeting staff reported 19 properties included in the current tax sale list.
Ambulance delivery: Staff reported an ambulance delivery tentatively scheduled for March 10. The vehicle must be certified with the state before being placed in service.
Park and Lake equipment: Staff said groundwork at the Park and Lake is largely completed and a recovered tractor runs despite body damage. Staff will check insurance coverage for removal costs. A loader was recovered from a ditch and an operations lead confirmed the vehicle starts and drives.
Bunker blocks: County staff and Commissioner Kent discussed purchasing concrete bunker blocks (4–6 foot blocks) to stabilize the backside of a building. Estimated supplier prices were cited at about $40 per block plus freight; staff will obtain written estimates and check procurement rules before proceeding.
Other updates: Staff noted adjusted snowfall totals south of Highway 50 and coordination with local jurisdictions for warming centers if needed, a canceled facility tour in Manhattan, and forthcoming revised cost estimates from an engineering firm (EBH) related to a cost‑share application.
