King County committee confirms Velma Viloria to airport roundtable

The King County Government Accountability and Oversight Committee on Feb. 11 confirmed Velma Viloria to the King County International Airport Roundtable, voting 4-0 to send a "do pass" recommendation to the full council.
The motion to confirm Viloria, moved by Councilmember Elmer Mosqueda, passed with Councilmember Dunn, Mosqueda, Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda? (sic) and Councilmember Perry recorded as voting aye and Chair Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer also voting aye. The appointment carries a partial term expiring Aug. 31, 2026, and was transmitted to the full council for placement on the consent agenda unless there is objection.
The roundtable, established by the council in 1997, advises airport management, the county executive and the council on airport budgets, programs, regulations, master plans, noise reduction strategies and related matters. During her remarks, Viloria said she intends to strengthen the relationship between the airport and nearby communities and to ensure residents’ concerns are heard as airport planning looks toward 2045. She described outreach and flight-pattern changes as key upcoming issues.
Committee members praised Viloria’s community organizing experience and legislative background, highlighting past work including House Bill 1175 related to human trafficking. Councilmembers thanked her for agreeing to serve and said they look forward to her participation in roundtable discussions.
Jean Paul from council staff summarized the appointment paperwork and confirmed the term expiration date and the roundtable’s role. With the committee’s vote, the motion will be transmitted to the full council at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
Viloria said she looks forward to working with roundtable members and with the council on airport issues affecting Beacon Hill and nearby neighborhoods.
